Music defies the alert levels

News

The already Covid-19 affected 69th Te Awamutu Performing Arts Festival 2021 held at the beginning of the month suffered a further setback with the announcement of Hamilton going into level 3. Acoustic Instrument, Vocal, Speech and Drama and the Highland Dance Sections were fortunate to be able to proceed this year after a cancelled event last year. However, with the announcement of Hamilton going into level 3, it was disappointing that Pianoforte and Dance were cancelled entirely before the completion of the festival. Organisers say it has been a testing term for both teachers and participants, however performers came out shining and did themselves proud. They thank all sponsors, volunteers, teachers and accompanists for supporting this year's Performing Arts Festival, saying it is because of this support and community spirit that they can provide a performance opportunity for students of all ages, at different levels of learning, and encourage them in their musical journey.
